Camp Sakawawin History
Randall Holden

The following information was supplied by Randall Holden, an authority on council Scout camps. Randy has supplied information about several council camps and his help is truly appreciated.

Opened by the New Brunswick Council in 1932, this camp has experienced several name changes over the years. The camp started in Blairstown on Cedar Lake. Then, later, moved to Branchville.

"Camp Sakawawin closed in Blairstown after the 1947 season and opened at the present day Kittatinny Mountain SR site in 1948. This site at Cedar Lake was the property Camp Weygadt used until it purchased the land on the Delaware River. I believe the year was 1929 but I would have to double check that." (Randall Holden)
