District History
George Washington Council
by Dr. Larry Gering

Lenape Trails District, and the Lenape Trails Chapter of Sanhican Lodge, included southern and eastern portions of City of Trenton, Hamilton Township, Mercerville, down to Bordentown, and the area east of Route US 1 near Quakerbridge Rd
Sanhican District included northern and western City of Trenton, Ewing Township, and Lawrence Township. This includes the Yapeechen Chapter of Sanhican Lodge because it would be too confusing to have the Sanhican Chapter of Sanhican Lodge.
Actual boundaries were somewhat subjective because when the original district was divided into Sanhican District and Lenape Trails District, some troops preferred to remain with related troops, despite Council designated divisions. This was especially true for troops in downtown Trenton and explains why some Trenton troops went to one district and why others went to the other district.
