Samples of shoulder patches issued by George Washington Council. There appear to have been six distinct shoulder patches, plus five National Jamboree patches, issued by Council (not all are shown). A three patch set was released in 1985 in honor of the 75th anniversary of Scouting. A number of variations exist for several of the patches. When Council purchases new patches differences in color or thread can occur. Probably no one knows exactly how many variations exist. A note from Dr. Larry Gering discusses the history of patches within the council, starting from the mid-1940s. Click on any of the above patches for a better view.
