Camp Sakawawin History
The following information was supplied by Randall Holden, an authority on council Scout camps. Randy has supplied information about several council camps and his help is truly appreciated.
Opened by the New Brunswick Council in 1932, this camp has experienced several name changes over the years. The camp started in Blairstown on Cedar Lake. Then, later, moved to Branchville.
1932 Opened by New Brunswick Council in Blairstown
1947 Close camp at Cedar Lake
1948 Open Camp Sakawawin in Branchville
1969 Change name to Camp Johnson Woods
1970 Change name to Thomas A. Edison Council Camp
1971 Change to name Kittatinny Mountain Scout Reservation
